(The UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative is a response to the call from governments for a life cycle economy in the Malmo Declaration (2000). The initiative aims to promote sustainable consumption and production patterns, to put life cycle thinking into practice and to improving the supporting tools through the provision of better data and indicators.  Specific aims are the facilitation of life cycle practices in business, government and the civil society, strengthening capabilities in business and government and the support promote refining and enhancing methodologies and life cycle data availability for decision makers and practitioners.)
