Biodata of Kapil Narula

 

 

Commander Kapil Narula is an Electrical Engineer by profession and is serving in the Indian Navy (IN) for the past 16 years. After his three year military training in the esteemed ‘National Defence Academy’ at Pune, he completed his BTech in Electrical Engineering followed by MTech from IIT, Kharagpur in Control Systems Engineering. The officer is a certified ‘Energy Auditor’ from ‘Bureau of Energy Efficiency’ (BEE), New Delhi. He is also a life member of ‘Institution of Engineers’ and a gold medalist from ‘Indian Society of Training and Development’.


As an officer in the IN, he has served onboard frontline warships in Mumbai and Vishakhapatnam where he was responsible for operation, maintenance and repair of advanced electrical and electronic equipment. He has also served as an instructor in faculty of power engineering at an electrical training establishment of the IN. Cdr Kapil Narula has been working to evolve an energy policy for the Indian Navy and has authored various articles in this area to increase awareness on the issue.


He has been sponsored by the IN and is presently enrolled in external PhD programme from IGIDR, Mumbai with a specialization in the broad field of ‘Energy’. His stated career goal is “to provide a leadership role to the world, onto a path of sustainable development and an energy secure future”. He aims to integrate theoretical research with practical aspects of implementation to achieve this goal.
