Job Description
The IGIDR follows a policy of hiring excellent persons with impressive qualifications and academic achievements. Recruitment is in a variety of areas on a continuing basis. Applications are invited particularly from those interested in policy analysis and applied research, from an interdisciplinary perspective. Depending upon the availability of post and suitability of the applicant he/ she may be considered for the post of Visiting Research Associate (VRA), Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor. The pay scales for all these positions are at par with the premier institutes in the country like IITs, IIMs, etc. In addition, on-campus housing and other benefits including contributory provident fund, interest subsidy on housing loans, leave travel assistance, medical facilities, etc., as applicable to Indian premier institutes are available.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. from a reputed organization with an excellent academic record. Specialization in the following areas is of interest to the IGIDR:
- Development Theory and Policy,
- Economic Theory (Micro-economics, Macro-economics, Public Economics, etc.)
- Econometrics (Theory and Applied)
- Monetary and Financial Economics,
- International Trade and Finance,
- Energy systems or Energy Economics
- Environmental Economics and Policy or Environmental Engineering.
Experience:
Fresh candidates (i.e., who have just completed their Ph.D.) are considered for VRA positions only. For other positions the minimum academic/research experience required is as follows: Assistant Professor (3 years at lecturer or equivalent level), Associate Professor (5 years at Assistant Professor or equivalent level), and Professor (6 years at Associate Professor or equivalent level). For all faculty positions person should have a high quality publications in refereed journals.
Visiting Appointments
IGIDR welcomes short term academic visitors from India and abroad. The period of such visits can be from a minimum of two weeks to a maximum of one year. Visitors may be provided with on campus accommodation at a modest cost. Depending upon the stay and purpose, an honorarium or consolidated pay may be provided to them.

Note:
i) Receipt of Application will be acknowledged by email.
ii) Generally, Institute processes application received within 3 months.
iii) The institute tries to process the applications expeditiously but in view of the large number of applications received, short listing can take up to 3-4 months.
iv) Only short-listed candidates will be contacted for further consideration.
v) The Institute decision in all matters relating to recruitment will be treated as final.
vi) Merely possessing the minimum qualifications, experience and other academic credentials do not qualify any candidate for further consideration.
