Awards and Distinctions


  1. I was awarded (1) Sir James Fergusson Scholarship in 1965   for securing 1st Rank at the B.A. Examination of the Bombay University.
  2. I was awarded (1) The Chancellor's Gold Medal & (2) The K.T.Telang Gold Medal in 1968 for securing 1st Rank at the  M.A. Examination of the Bombay University.
  3. Paper no.13 (see Publications above) was awarded the D.K.Desai Prize by The Indian Society of Agricultural      Economics for being the best paper published in the Society's journal for the year 1989.
  4. Papers No. 50 and 55 (see Publications above) obtained citations of excellence from ANBAR Electronic Intelligence, U.K.
  5. Chaired a session on "Econometric Theory" at the 1992 India and South?East Asia Meeting of the Econometric Society.(Bombay,19?21, December 1992).
  6. 20th Century Achievement Award of American Biographical Institute.
  7. International Man of the Year 1998-99 Award by International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, U.K.
