The Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) is organising the 19th Macroeconomics and Finance Conference during December 15-17, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. IST. The objective of the Conference is to bring together scholars who are engaged in quality research in money and finance, and to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas that seek to push the boundaries of existing research, particularly with respect to emerging economies like India.

The conference themes this year are growth dynamics, banking sector issues, central banking, monetary policy and economic impact of crisis.

Dr. Subir V. Gokarn Best Paper Awards

The Dr. Subir V. Gokarn's Best Paper Awards will be presented at the Conference to the author(s) of the best paper, the second best paper and the third best paper. The awardees will be chosen based on the quality of the paper in terms of its innovativeness, objectives, methodology, quality of analysis, clarity of text, completeness of the paper, contribution to the literature and policy relevance. The Best Paper Award consists of a cash prize of Rs. One lakh and a citation. The Second Best Paper award consists of a cash prize of Rs. Fifty thousand and a citation. The Third Best Paper Award consists of a cash prize of Rs. Twenty-five thousand and a citation.

One of the highlights of the Conference this year is the Special Session on Friday, December 17 in honour of the late Dr. Subir V. Gokarn, former faculty of IGIDR and former Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. Dr. Duvvuri Subbarao, Former Governor, Reserve Bank of India, is the Chief Guest of the session. In this session, the top three papers of the conference will be awarded the Dr. Subir V. Gokarn Best Paper Awards, as well as a web page devoted to Dr. Gokarn's policy writings and work at IGIDR will be launched.

In view of the on-going Covid 19 situation, the Conference will be held online between 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. IST.
