The Young Scholars' Programme (YSP) is a capacity building initiative of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research. The Programme was launched in the year 2007 with the objective of promoting research in different aspects of human development. The Programme is a part of the project "Strengthening State Plans for Human Development" supported by the United Nations Development Programme and Planning Commission of India.

The Young Scholars' Programme is conceived with the objective of giving young researchers, teachers and development practitioners an orientation about different dimensions and aspects of human development so as to build up their capacity to contribute to this field through research and implementation.

The Fifth YSP was organised from 15 through 27 June 2009. Thirty Seven participants from all over India participated in the programme.
