LAW AND ECONOMICS WORKSHOP 2004In recent years, with the growing tendencies of globalization, there has been a rapid internationalization of the field of Law and Economics. Few areas of legal scholarship remain untouched by economics. What began as analysis of economic regulation relating to anti-trust and securities and commercial law has broadened into economic analysis of tort, contract, family, intellectual property and constitutional, criminal and anti-discrimination law. With increasing legal areas of application, there has also been an increase in the approaches that include property rights, game theory, public choice and constitutional political economy. In spite of such rapid strides all over the world, Law and Economics in India remains at a rudimentary stage. As a small step towards bridging the gap, IGIDR is organizing an intensive training program in Law and Economics from September 6 to September 17, 2004, as part of its collaboration with the University of Hamburg Institute of Law and Economics and other scholars.
