Dr. Manasi Bera is a postdoctoral fellow at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai. Her current research focuses on commuting behaviour in India and the associated factors. Her research interest includes labour market dynamics, social exclusion and inequality, gender and work, migration and development, and public policy. She has expertise in quantitative research and interest in mixed methods. Dr. Manasi obtained a Ph.D. in Economics from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, and MPhil and MA from the University of Calcutta. Before joining IGIDR, she worked as Assistant Professor at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Guwahati Campus. She has also worked as a researcher at the Indian Institute of Dalit Studies, National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, and Institute for Studies in Industrial Development, Delhi. Her doctoral research work was supported by UGC fellowship. The Indian Society of Labour Economics awarded her the Sanjay Thakur Young Labour Economist Award in 2018.
