NAAC

Introduction

Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) follows nationally recognised quality assurance and assessment frameworks to ensure academic excellence and institutional accountability. The Institute adheres to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) framework for institutional accreditation.

IGIDR has an active Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), which plays a central role in continuously monitoring, evaluating, and improving academic and administrative processes. IGIDR also participates in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), reflecting its commitment to transparency, performance benchmarking, and continuous enhancement in teaching, research, and governance in line with national higher education standards.

NAAC

IGIDR completed its third cycle of accreditation by the NAAC following the formal submission of the Self Study Report (SSR) and a comprehensive onsite evaluation by the NAAC Peer Team. The detailed results of this assessment are recorded in the Institutional Grade Sheet, which reflects the institute’s adherence to quality standards in higher education and research.

For further transparency and detailed information regarding the accreditation process, the following
documents are available for review:

Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQARs)

IGIDR has consistently complied with NAAC’s quality assurance requirements by submitting the Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQARs) regularly from 2017–18 to 2022–23. These submissions reflect the Institute’s sustained efforts toward academic quality enhancement and institutional development under the earlier NAAC accreditation framework.

NAAC pilot survey reports

Subsequently, NAAC has discontinued the mandatory submission of AQARs as part of its ongoing reforms and is transitioning from the earlier graded accreditation system to the Binary Accreditation Framework (BAF) along with Maturity-Based Graded Levels (MBGL).

During this transition, IGIDR continues to document its quality improvement initiatives through its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), while mechanisms for capturing institutional progress under the new framework are being finalized by NAAC.

IGIDR has demonstrated its commitment to institutional excellence by voluntarily submitting two pilot survey forms to help NAAC test its new assessment frameworks. These submissions include a pilot survey for the Binary Accreditation Framework submitted in July 2024, and a subsequent NAAC Reform Pilot Survey submitted on October, 2025.

These pilot survey are available through the following links:
